Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right

Advocates of legally mandated discrimination, misnamed as "affirmative action," have apparently forgotten this basic lesson of their childhoods. They have also forgotten the U.S. Constitution.

The Fourteenth Amendment states: "...nor shall any State... deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." To require quotas in government hiring, or award scholarships or government contracts, based on race or gender, is to break the highest law of our land. We can debate the relative wisdom of doing these things till we're out of breath.

But that won't change the fact that so-called affirmative action is flat out illegal. And even if the Supreme Court is willing to do so, I am no more willing to violate the Constitution for a good cause than for a bad one.
